Studying at Alba

Endowment and Fundraising

As all not-for-profit organizations pursuing educational/cultural goals, Alba relies heavily on donations for maintaining and further improving the quality of its educational services and operations.

Donations are especially important since Alba, by its mission, is a research-driven academic institution and thus the academic excellence to which Alba aspires cannot be achieved without intense academic research activities.

The results of these research efforts are published in the leading academic journals; they are thus made available not only to the users of the educational or other relevant services provided by the research-driven academic institutions, but to the broader academic community and, therefore, to society in general, who all benefit from this new knowledge. They are “public goods”.

As student fees can not cover the full cost of a research-driven School like Alba, donations from private and corporate donors are vital.

Donations to Alba and the American College of Greece can support the establishment of Centers of Excellence, Endowed Professorships, contribution to student scholarships, naming of education facilities, etc.

Endowment

Donations to Alba and the American College of Greece exclusively fund academic research-related operations

Such donations could support:

  • the creation of an Endowed Chair, for supplementing the salary of an internationally distinguished academic to be attracted to the Alba Resident Faculty, and for supporting his/her research activities
  • the creation of an Endowed Professorship, with a donation lower than in the case of an Endowed Chair, only for supplementing the salary of a distinguished academic to be attracted to the ALBA Resident Faculty
  • endowment for funding the operation of specific Research Centers, already established or to be established at ALBA.

In all cases of such donations, the name of the donor is associated with the recipient donation.

Alba Business Unusual Awards

Alba has always offered scholarships to candidates with a solid academic and professional profile, and financial aid to those facing serious financial problems, in order to actively promote equal opportunities to people who well deserve it. In order to support our scholarship fund and be able to continue to offer scholarships to at least 20% of students who meet the academic criteria but fail to meet the financial requirements of the program of their choice, we hold a fundraising event called the “Alba Business unusual Award”.

“Alba Business unusual Award” highlights important activities that have a positive impact on the Greek economy and society and, at the same time, honors exceptional individuals who could serve as role models for personal and professional behavior.
